What’s Happening This Week?

This Friday – Watch your email: The JRUUC Connection Surveys will arrive in your inbox on Friday, with links to three separate surveys about religious education for children and youth, our justice work and involvement in the community, and your sense of connection to our congregation.  Please take a few minutes to fill them all out, and help our leaders understand your needs as we discern how to work together toward our shared mission.

Reindahl Park Meet-Up for the Whole Family – Friday August 20th 6:00 – Splashpad available or just hang out with others from Reeb.

Covid Update: JRUUC is at Level 4 on our updated Covid-19 Strategic Plan. Among the revisions for outdoor activities at this level: (1) Participants sign in, but advance registration is not required. (2) Number of participants is limited by social distancing needs rather than a specific maximum attendance. (3) Singing is permitted for a limited time with appropriate masks and distancing. (4) One person or household at a time may enter the building for restroom use. See guidelines for details.

Justice Leadership Team CALL TO ACTION The Justice Leadership Team encourages members to work for justice in our community and country. Here are actions you can take this week.

What’s Coming Up?

New Covenant Groups Are Forming – Covenant Groups are part of the Adult Religious Exploration Program at JRUUC. Groups are randomly created at the start of each church year, based on the availability of people interested, and they meet monthly via Zoom.  They are closed groups, for confidentiality and community-building, and are made up of 6 to 10 people plus a facilitator. They have several purposes: to build relationships through the practice of deep listening, and to practice shared ministry with each other and our congregation as a whole.  Please see this brochure for more information, and sign up here if you’d like to be part of a virtual or in-person Covenant Group this year.

OWL – Our Whole Lives program will be starting up again soon – open to youth beyond Reeb too. Learn about the body and its development from trained facilitators. This holistic program moves beyond the intellect to address the attitudes, values, and feelings that youth have about themselves and the world. Check your email for more information or email Mandy at re@jruuc.org.

Let’s Talk About UU Music and Culture – From our Music Director, Heather Yonker:

I will be hosting a 2 hour event providing the opportunity to explore how music shapes our culture and experience. This is a chance to humanize stories and information and provide a widening of our awareness of others’ perspectives. Space will be made for each participant to speak and to be heard. There will be some breakout groups within the 2 hour period.  Ideally 8-12 participants in a variety of ages would make for an effective event.

Consider these two dates/times: Thursday September 16th at 6:30pm or possibly Sunday, September 19th at 4pm.

It can be finalized according to the schedules of those that sign up. Please contact me at your earliest convenience if you would like to participate.

Heather Yonker, Music Director, JRUUC, music@jruuc.org
