What’s New and Upcoming?

Please tell us what you think and need! – If you are on our email list, you received an email on Saturday, with links to three separate surveys about religious education for children and youth, our justice work and involvement in the community, and your sense of connection to our congregation.  Please take a few minutes to fill them all out, and help our leaders understand your needs as we discern how to work together toward our shared mission.

RE News

A practical reminder- there is no RE this week, as it’s the fifth Sunday of the month. Starting in September, both virtual groups will be restarting. They’ll run on the first three Sundays of the month. On the fourth, until we reemerge from this current surge in the Delta variant, we will try to meet outdoors.

Parent Orientation for OWL will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 11th. If you haven’t yet submitted your child’s name for inclusion in this year’s class, please do so now.

RE needs volunteers…badly, both for in-person teaching and for facilitating the groups online. If you’re interested in hanging out with our awesome young people please email Mandy at RE@JRUUC.org.

Sign up for Covenant Groups!

Covenant Groups are part of the Adult Religious Exploration Program at JRUUC. Groups are randomly created at the start of each church year, based on the availability of people interested, and they meet monthly via Zoom. They are closed groups, for confidentiality and community-building, and are made up of 6 to 10 people plus a facilitator. They have several purposes: to build relationships through the practice of deep listening, and to practice shared ministry with each other and our congregation as a whole. Please see this brochure for more information, and sign up here if you’d like to be part of a virtual or in-person Covenant Group this year.

From Heather, our Music DirectorWhat do you think about UU music?

I will be hosting a 2 hour event providing the opportunity to explore how music shapes our culture and experience. This is a chance to humanize stories and information and provide a widening of our awareness of others’ perspectives. Space will be made for each participant to speak and to be heard. There will be some breakout groups within the 2 hour period.  Ideally 8-12 participants in a variety of ages would make for an effective event.

Consider these two dates/times: Thursday September 16th at 6:30pm or possibly Sunday, September 19th at 4pm.

It can be finalized according to the schedules of those that sign up. Please contact me at music@jruuc.org at your earliest convenience if you would like to participate.

What’s Continuing and Good To Know?

COVID Update: With 70% of Dane County’s population fully vaccinated and 75% having at least one dose, Covid infections remain high but appear to be leveling out. For everyone’s safety, JRUUC activities are currently outdoors or online in accord with Level 4 of our strategic plan.
