Adopting the 8th Principle at JRUUC – Share Your Thoughts

“We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote:  journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”

Adopting the 8th Principle at Reeb would be an explicit statement that we acknowledge the need for work to dismantle racism and other oppressions within ourselves and our congregations and commit to doing so.  We have created other statements of conscience in the past, on mass incarceration and Black Lives Matter, and this would be a similar process.  Your responses to these questions will offer us some guidance on whether we should introduce a vote to adopt at this year’s annual meeting next month.

Thank you for being part of the conversation!
