Caring Tree Co-Coordinator Needed!

5/10/23 – We are looking for someone to be a long term co-coordinator beginning in June. This is a great way to strengthen your ties to the JRUUC community and get to know Reeb friends and members better. We meet once a month and the amount of support requested varies from month to month. Please contact the Caring Tree on the JRUUC website if you are interested or have questions about this opportunity.

Are You Creative? Share What You Made!

5/17/23 – From Genevieve: In keeping with May’s theme of creativity, our service on May 28th will be a collaborative and participatory service. We know our congregation is full of creatives of all kinds and we want to give everyone the opportunity to share their talents. We are inviting everyone and anyone to bring something they have created to the service, whether that be a work of art, a favorite recipe, a piece of writing or an instrument to create a song! If you created it, we want to see and share in it. Please email Genevieve at re@jruuc.org for more information.

Caring For Our Grounds

Here is the link to sign up for Yard Care – Sign up sheet begins May 1st. This includes mowing, picking up litter, and reporting any issues to the building stewardship committee.

Magazines Wanted

The RE program is looking for used magazines for use in our projects and lesson plans. Magazines can be dropped off in the RE office, the more pictures the better!

Would you join us as a Sunday Morning Greeter?

“Welcome, we’re glad you’re here!”  I hope you’ve heard this statement many times at JRUUC. It is our goal to provide “radical hospitality” here and make ours a welcoming place for all.  One way we practice this is by having Sunday morning greeters.  In addition to providing a greeting, we make coffee for after-service coffee hour, orient visitors to our space, help people find name tags, take the offering, field or direct questions, and do minor cleaning up after service.

Beginning immediately, as more people are coming back to in-person services, we are looking for two greeters each Sunday morning.  Could you help grow our Greeter Team?  This is a fun and valuable service to offer our congregation.  If interested in becoming a greeter or continuing on as a greeter, please email Peggy Haack. A brief greeter training and get-together will take place later this fall as our numbers grow; until then, new greeters will be paired with a veteran greeter.  Join us!

Make Sunday Services Happen for Everyone

There’s so much to do to support JRUUC’s transition back to having in-person gatherings! How would you like to help? Here’s a partial (and growing) list of opportunities:

  • Audio/visual operator & Zoom host for Sunday services – if you have any tech experience, this will be pretty easy for you, and Mike Stimson will teach you everything you need to know!
  • Virtual Greeter for Sunday services – we’re still in need of a few more people who can do this, to lighten the load on the three folx who are doing it (and lots of other things) now; Rachel Avery will train and support you!
  • In-person greeters for Sunday mornings – this role requires that you be vaccinated, and Rev. Karen has a list of the things you’ll need to do

Please contact our office to offer your time and talent!

Lend Your Voice – Sing With the Sacred Breath Choir

  • We need baritone and bass singers! Remember, this is community choir, you do not need to be a professional singer to enjoy the benefits of singing with us.
  • If you have never come to sing with us but have been wanting to….Come Thursday at 6:45. Please send an email to music@jruuc.org if it is your first time attending.
  • If you have been vaccinated and are willing to adhere to wearing a singing mask and keeping social distance, you can join us in the sanctuary for choir rehearsal.

Help With the Sunday Service RE Activity Corner

When our DRE won’t be in the service, we need volunteers to staff our activity corner. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! There are idea sheets in the folder with the sign-up sheet, but you are more than welcome to bring your own activity if you have any ideas. Please contact Genevieve at re@jruuc.org if you are interested.

Keep Our Congregation Financially Strong

Social Justice Through Healthy Food!

Easy and FUN volunteer opportunity for all ages! JRUUC volunteers to help the Community Action Coalition for South Central WI collect leftover or donated food from vendors at the Saturday downtown Dane County Farmers Market. CAC’s food assistance programs create access to nutrition for people in the greatest need.

Everyone is welcome to help, so bring your friends and kids for these easy 75 minute volunteer opportunities. We gather at the CAC truck by the capitol building on the East Washington side around 11:45-noon. We all put on CAC vests as identification and split up into 4 groups, each with a cart and a quadrant of the market.

We have finished with our 2022 dates, but if you are interested in 2023 contact Jocie, and watch your weekly email.
