Chalk Mural on the side of JRUUC!

The Emerson East Neighborhood Association (EENA) arts task force is encouraging people of all ages to sketch out visions of a sustainable neighborhood and submit ideas. The goal is to create a collaborative mural with the theme “a sustainable neighborhood" on the Fourth Street side of JRUUC. Neighbors will vote on their favorite sketches, with the mural being a composite of the top few vote getters. The mural will be a community effort, too, "painted" in chalk by all who would like to take part! Everyone who enters a sketch also has a chance to win fabulous prizes from local businesses.

Submit sketches by April 15, 2012; Must be in color, sized between 5" x 8” and 11" x 17”; Theme:  A sustainable neighborhood. Send sketches to: farsettad@gmail.com if it’s an electronic file, or drop off drawings on the front porch of 213 N Fifth St.

We welcome sketches from children, youth and adults; from individuals and groups; and from residents of, visitors to and friends of the Emerson East neighborhood.  No art experience or credentials necessary! Also, on Sunday, April 22 — that's Earth Day — from 2 to 7pm, we'll display all the mural sketches at JRUUC, Milio's, and 4 & 20 Bakery & Cafe. Please come appreciate local art, vote for your favorite sketches, and chat with members of the public arts task force and other neighbors.
