The Power of Story

Laura Hershey wrote “…Those with power can afford to tell their story or not.  Those without power risk everything to tell their story and must.  Someone, somewhere will hear your story and decide to fight, to live and refuse compromise.”  This Sunday, as we honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and ready ourselves for the next administration, we’ll explore telling stories as a way of building power and making change. [Photo by Karen Armina]

  • The Share the Plate recipient for January 19 and 26 is CAYA Clinic. CAYA Clinic, Dane County’s first non-profit harm reduction psychotherapy practice, is a place for people who use drugs and people with mental health concerns to access counseling, moderation management, harm reduction supplies, mental health and trauma therapy.  Their mission is to meet people where they are and utilize evidence-based harm reduction therapy techniques to reduce drug-related harms, prevent overdose, and promote the empowerment of people who use drugs.  CAYA provides services to all regardless of health insurance status.  This organization was nominated by Dannee Livingston-DeTienne, in honor of her spouse Rene, who helped to found CAYA.
